It has more features and a digital readout Here are a few bullet points - * Sets audio system gain overlap, continuously variable from 0.0dB - 15.0dB in 0.1dB steps * Checks gain overlap of an audio system without making any adjustments to the existing settings * Verifies that the gain overlap of an install hasn't been tampered with after install * Features our Patent Pending Distortion Detection system plus digital microcontroller and our proprietary firmware * 200V maximum input (same as DD-1 HV) * Quasi-RMS voltmeter (can detect clipping at any frequency) Want to know how it works? 7. they have to make money sure, but why lie to him to do it? Was it the shop owner or the employee that said they would price match? Maybe the employee lied to get you there and then asked the owner after the fact. Kinda what it sounds like. That could be it. I agree with you OP 100%. I would be down to make that type of trup also, but to make that trip just to get lied to. It don't work like that with me. I have strong integrity, if I tell you I am going to be here at a certain time, or I can do X for this person. I do it, I don't change while someone is on their way. Good job not caving, because I know that big of a trip could make someone just say fuck it and spend the extra money. But it is all about integrity, you won't go anywhere in life with out.

  8. My boy is from Chicago and he's always coming back from the crib with good deals. Yeah, I love my shop because the Type -r isn't their best woofer. A whole lot of shops around here treat it like the best ever made.

  9. I have been going to the same brick and mortar store since before there was an internet to buy stuff. Because of that I can pull one of the owners aside while other customers are in the store and ask for a legit price. I still like to support the local small businesses. So too keep the good relationship with a shop is a good idea. Remember Amazon can't always ship stuff to you 2hrs before a comp.

  10. The thing about business that businesses sometimes fail to realize is that if you have good customer service and a product that people want, they'll come to you. I know people that drove to Atlanta from Nashville (200+ miles) just to go to IKEA.I haven't even started to put the sound deadener (Second Skin) in my car so I'm far from ready for the subs but I figured I'd go ahead and get them . But if all else fails, I'll get the B-Stock subs or wait for Black Friday sales. You can get a blown sa12 from sundown right now for $65 shipped and recones are $40 so you basically have a brand new sub for $105

  11. I see your point and agree it's the principle in the matter, but that'd be tough to walk away having drove 160 miles round trip twice... If the sa12s continue their popularity, I'd be willing to bet they'll cost $220 even online in the next year or so. They were only $169, 6 months-year ago. Hell they were 189 like 2 months ago. You could always wait til Black Friday. $133 shipped on Amazon last year. Hahaha!

  12. WOW so you didn't buy them just because you had to pay $11 more plus tax so about $26... that 80 miles would of been worth the extra money just knowing there in my hand and i wouldn't have to pay shipping if i needed them warranted.. Did you even ask how the warranty them if its direct replacement or repair?

  13. picture this...someone pulls up to your shop (or garage). They complain that they keep blowing up tweeters or woofers....or whatever. You plug in the new dd-1+ and probe the outputs. Without even touching his system settings, you can see what his overlaps are set at already. Don't be surprised if you probe a problem system and find someone +22db over and wondering why they can't keep a tweet On mids/highs i normally wouldn't want to be to much over 5db of overlap. So you fix him up, and record the NEW overlaps (say you chose 4db). Write that down and next time he shows up, you can probe it and see if anyone f#cked with the settings. If it says 8db, you know his "buddy" helped turn up the volume for him (aka turned his gain up). Warranty voided. I might include some round stickers to go over the gain pot so when you are done you cover them up and avoid temptation

  15. So, I'm in the market for two SA-12D4. I found the closest dealer to Cincinnati which is over 80 miles away. Dealer name is Drive 1 Customs in Springfield, OH. I made a trip up back in November to get a feel for what kind of shop it was. The salesperson told me the subs cost $249/sub. After leaving, I did research online and found the subs for $199/sub. Confused by the difference I contacted Bryan @ Sundown Audio to figure out the reason for the difference. He informed me of their MAP pricing policy and for my particular sub of choice $199 is the lowest price Sundown allows the dealer to sell the product. He told me that I could contact the dealer and they might match the lowest MAP price, but they don't have to. I contacted Drive 1 by phone after receiving the info direct from Sundown. The salesperson I spoke to in November said he would sell them to me for $199/sub. So due to time lapsing, I called on 01/23/14 to make sure the deal didn't expire. This time the salesperson told me that he'd "match online pricing". Today, I drive over 80 miles to Drive 1 to support a "brick-and-mortar". I get there and after telling the salesperson that I was promised price match he calls the owner. The owner, who was next door at his other business (Yes, I said NEXT DOOR!!!) says he would sell them to me at $220/sub. So I plead with the salesperson that I ONLY drove all the way there because of what was promised. So he calls the owner back, who refused to come talk face to face, and he says he'll do them for $210. I tell the salesperson that's not what was promised and he proceeds to tell me that I'd have a hard time getting my warranty from an authorized Internet dealer and all they do is drop-ship. To him this was why the owner would NOT take them down to $199. So, I still have no subs and now I understand why people have a hard time trusting shops. Despite my knowledge of what the sub is actually worth (MSRP)...this was bad business!!!!! If they had initially said they wouldn't honor the MAP pricing I wouldn't have gone through any of this and NO one would know the true character of this owner and his business.

  16. I guess Mr. Brocks has been having problems with people swiping batteries off his property. He rigged up an alarm to one and waitd....sure enough, they took the bait! This isn't my video but most of you know him, if not, hit up his channel and ask - there is more to this story. Turns out they dumped the battery and then called the cops on HIM for chasing them down. They didn't know it was all on video. Check it out

  17. Anything for VVX v1? Or would the v2 work with the v1??

  18. I understand where you are coming from man. I manage a small kinda "brick and mortar" grocery store (we have 9 stores in our chain) and I occasionally have customers call and ask about a price or see if they can get a better deal buying a whole case of a product. the price I tell them is the price they get. If I didn't stick to that my store would loose business especially since we can't always give as good of deals as the local walmart super center can but we still stay pretty busy. Why do we do so well? Good honest management and great customer service. And thats what you need to stay up as a small store

  19. I'm with you, the 80 miles one way wouldn't be shit if they didn't send you off. A blunt there and a blunt back after you got your subs it would've felt like a 30 minute drive.
    1 point
  20. True, he can't make a 2 hour 160 mile trip either, especially when he has no faith in what they will decide to charge him when he gets there
    1 point
  21. Years ago, I would've too. I would've even paid the $250/sub they told me the first time I drove up because I did very little research before making a purchase. I'm sure the "owner" was banking on me caving in too.
    1 point
  22. My thoughts exactly. You think he wanted to drive 80 miles one direction to NOT buy subs? I don't think so. They lied to him. Plain and simple.

  23. The shop I go to is as good if not better than the internet. He gives out a 2 year warranty and he delivers the next day. He got an internet store on amazon. All his prices are competitive with the online dealers. He ships out to other cities as well but he is located in Chicago so he just has a driver bring the stuff to my house.

  24. I support brick and mortar store by not haggling them if the price is within a reasonable amount compared to online. I also understand that brick and mortar stores have to pay overhead and local taxes.

  25. I get all my gear online. Half the time the local places charge almost double for the same item if they even have it. Still cheaper with shipping.

  26. Thats fucking shitty dude. I would say fuck it and try to buy from another dealer that will give you that price or get them online.

  27. I was sitting in my car when a chick in a van full of idiots parked next to me. now they where angled parking spots an all the parking lanes where one way. she went the wrong way and parked straight into the parking spot on my passenger side. I was waiting for my wife to come out of the store. I noticed the spot on the other side of them was open and if I parked correctly I would be blocking the back of their van and wouldn't be able to get out. so of course I moved and blocked them in. they came back out pissed and yelling about having a party to go to. I laughed and told them ill leave when im ready to. from there they threatened to call the police for me blocking them in. told them go ahead your double parked im legal. said they are going to just get in and push my car out of the way I pointed up at a camera. rolled my window up ate a sandwhich then left. they went to take off out the parking lot when I cop saw them swerve past us and almost swipe a semi. they had a bad day all for double parking and in a hurry to get to a party. was a 7 passenger van with like 9-10 people in it to, lol.

  34. I hate to hear it, wish I had some cameras at my house. My 4 wheeler got stolen a couple months ago and hasn't been seen since. They just better be glad I wasn't home or they would have had a nice hospital visit to pull the bird shot out of their ass. Glad it worked out for him though. Edit: punctuation and grammar

  42. I had a neighbor that would block me in all the time, and even after the managers explained to her that she was half in my spot, she continued. so one night when I was maybe a bit intoxicated, I chained my truck up to her car and drug it into the street. her car got towed and she got a ticket for parking in the road...she ended up moving like 2 weeks later...lol
