Just got my 2 Sundown SA-10 D4's in and am trying to figure an aero-ported box design tuned to 33-35hz for a 96' Mustang GT. Available trunk dimensions are 33"w, 20"d and 15"h. Jacob (from Sundown) recommended 1 cu. ft. per chamber but I'm hearing a lot of others having great results with larger enclosures, which leaves me wondering which is best? Also I am unsure if my type of car will affect the tuning of the box therefore leaving me having to tune higher/lower to achieve a true 33-35hz tone? They're going to be powered by a DB Drive 1800 @ 1ohm. It's a daily install hoping to reach a balance of spl and sq. I listen to mostly rock/metal with a little bit of dubstep, rave and rap (if that matters). If your reading this and have box building knowledge, please help me figure this out. I've played around with numbers but can't seem to get it right. Thanks in advance!!!

Ive been looking but havent seen anyone really do (3) v3 z18 subs. i just got 3 of them and have 3 hifonics brutus 2100d and am curious has anyone had experience with these subwoofers? Sundown says 4 ft^3 and that sounds too small. Also, this is my first real system, gathering everything i think i need. Input appreciated.

Hey whats up eveyone I ordered a SA-8 v1.5 last week and I have now found some time to start disassembling it and getting it ready to recone. I will order the recone sometime this week when I get some extra funds. Anyway I have removed the cone off the woofer and now I am trying to remove the spiders. However there is a thick layer of glue over the spider and the screws holding the spider landing in? I think that is what it called. Someone please correct me on that cause I would also like to know the name of it. Here is what I am talking about and does anyone know how I can remove these screws so I can remove the spider and coil? Thank you for any help, -James

I basically just want to know if this design will work for my sub, my only concern is the port area, i know 14in of port per cube foot is ok, but it only has 8.5 in of port area, so comment if its good, or bad. Thanks. Sundown SA-8 D4 v.1 Wired at 2 ohms getting about 550 rms 10x23x12 box dimentions 8.5x1x30 port dimentions 34.29 Hz .64 cubes after sub and port displacement 8.50 inch port area 13.28 inches of port area per foot

Since im shrinking my box from 10 cubes to 8.5 do i still need both 8 " aero ports I had two 8" aero ports in a box that was 9.83 to 10 cubes net but now im shrinking my box to 8 to 8.5 cubic ft net. Can i get away with only using one 8" aero port. I seen a guy who had a box that was like 9 cubes net with four sundown niteshade 12s on about 8k and it was nasty loud. so im wondering since im going to 8-8.5 roughly on the same power this should work rite????

Hello everyone- I'm fairly new to here, so.. go easy on me. I'm looking at downgrading my system. (Or upgrading from a sony xplod..) I currently have a 12" Sony Xplod, which sucks horribly. It was free, so I can't complain, and my amp is a Hifonics HFI1500.1d -mono. I'm looking at a few different subs, mostly 8's and 10's. Right now, I'm comparing a few different ones. Rockford P3 - 10" Sundown SA-10" (or two 8") Alpine Type-x - 10" What is everyones thoughts on these listed three, for a beginner audiophile, on a limited budget?

Hey, im new to car audio, im 18 work for minimum wage. I drive a 95 civic ex, so far i have a false floor in with a hifonics 1500d amp mounted to it with a Sa-12 in a prefab box i got for free. I just purchased a table saw and now have everything i need for box building. I was wondering if anyone had a design for Sa-12 box. preferably 35hz tuned. If anyone could give me dimensions with port/vent included. I was looking at doing an aero port if anyone can include that in a design or dimensions please include where to put the port, how long, diameter etc. Thanks in advance please reply!

I'm very impressed with the quality of the Skar VVX series. I definitely haven't been disappointed. For only two 12s in a Full size SUV there is decent flex and air movement. I have them on just a HiFonics Hfi1000.1 D So they are not getting even the 600RMS each they are recommended. Plus If I'm careful I could probably put 750 to 1000 watts on each sub and they would take it easily. These subs can definitely take a beating and they love hitting nasty lows. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzT9-IlwbhY

Hello everyone! New to this particular forum. I am looking to replace my old Rockford Fosgate T1 10D4 with something new. I ran the T1 for a long long time then stopped. I just don't feel it hitting in my chest like I remember. So hence the need to upgrade. I am running a Rockford Fosgate Prime R500x1d. Birth sheet says 633 RMS so real world I'm estimating 560 RMS. I have seen the SA-10 rated at 500 RMS but I've seen conflicting details. I do not want to under power this sub. I know the sd.3 is supposed to be more SQ based and has an rms rating of 500 rms. Obviously I would like whichever speaker I decide to have good SQ but I also want to feel it in my chest. I miss that feeling and watching everything in my truck shake. Any opinions or advice in either direction would be much appreciated. Thank you

First time posting in this thread. Looking for a reliable hard pounding card audio system for around $1k. It is for a chevy Tahoe. So far I am considering getting a pair of Sundown Audio 12" 750W Dual 4-Ohm with the sundown audio 1500.1 or going with the skar audio 2000.1 monoblock (200$ cheaper). Will custom build the box accordingly and have a solid aftermarket head unit. Does this sound like a good set up for someone looking to get some extra bass from using a pair of L7s in the past?

A friend wants me to recone his Sundown 10" sub but we can't figure out what model/version it is so we can order the correct recone kit. I've sent 2 emails to Sundown and also a email to directronix for help but so far no response. I don't want to guess and end up with the wrong recone and have to send it back. I've included some pics before the sub was stripped down. Really hope someone can help.

So I noticed the db-r has a 1500d for sale at an awesome price but it is the older second version. My question is. Having vastly different boards (from the pictures I've seen) how much different it is than the newer version. I know output is going to be a small difference but what about cooling ability ( I realize the v3 has a fan) and overall reliability? Thanks!

I just went from a Hifonics BRX 2400 to a SAZ 3500D V2 Sundown amp. Problem is, it sounds identical to the hifonics amp. I don't hear any difference from what I can tell. Its rather dissapointing since the hifonics was around $350 and the Sundown was almost $1,000. I'm running my subs at 2ohms because they are both Dual 4 ohms. Though the box I have isn't big or spacious for these subs at, I would have thought there would have been some difference in the quality at that. On another note, I'm getting a constant "humming noise" through my subs even with the volume all the way down. I think its my rca cables and not the amp because I switched between amps and it was doing it on the hifonics as well. Just seemed to crap out between the switch which is odd, since i was bumping an 1hr before the switch. Maybe there is some mixed wiring somewhere, I'm not sure tbh. Thanks

I know that in the description of the sundown x series that they are low frequency drivers and do not expect to have them excel at high frequency bass notes. what is considered high frequency for this sub because everyone has a different definition of what a high frequency bass note is. my crossover is set to 85 hz give or take a few hz. Thanks Greg
